Meewasin/Trans Canada Trail Extension
The extension of the Meewasin/Trans Canada Trail from White Swan Drive to Adilman Drive is complete and ready for pedestrian and bicycle use. This paved path overlooks the river, behind Ball Crescent and Perreault Crescent.
Temporary barricades are in place because of complaints that motorized vehicles are using the path. Eventually, permanent trail markers, or bollards, will replace the barricades to keep motorized vehicles off the path. The Meewasin Valley Authority and the City of Saskatoon are developing a new and improved standard for bollards to provide safe and accessible entrance for cyclists and pedestrians.
For next year, based on funding, plans are in place to further extend the trail from Aidlman Drive to Kinnear Avenue. The trail extension will pass through the Factoria site – an important historical site from the early days of Saskatoon and the Silverwood neighbourhood. This trail will also meander through naturally sensitive area with many native prairie grass and plant species, wildlife including a den, and fantastic vistas of the river. The future goal is to connect Saskatoon to Wanuskewin Heritage Park.
Enjoy our new path!
WJL Harvey Park Access Update
As many of you may have noticed, there are signs at all entrances into WJL Park warning that there is no public access allowed to the park at this time.
Of course, the Park has been and still is a construction site – meaning that there is heavy equipment and machinery on the site. However, part of the reason these signs have been put up is because the city has been receiving calls from the public about irrigation not being complete and holes beside the pathways that are potentially hazardous. So, the city has put up these signs and is asking citizens not to go into the park at this time.
Perhaps the signs will be removed when the irrigation is complete and there are no longer any hazardous areas, but we have not received confirmation of when this might be.

WJL Harvey Park Upgrade Information
As of the end of 2010:
Hello Silverwood Heights Community Association,
I have received an update regarding the park. It is not completely certain yet when the school children would be able to access the park, however, after laying the grass seed, access would only occur after the ground freezes. Below is an email detailing the public process that occurred and an update as to where the park development is at this point. Please do not hesitate to call with any questions. Read more
