This will be the final deadline for submission. We are looking forward to seeing everyone out and about on Saturday May 12th. However, if it is very rainy or snowing, the event will be postponed until the week after the long weekend, on May 26th.

Good day all:

After a number of discussions with CN, we have reached an agreement that the 51st Street Railway crossing will be repaired April 13-15 (Friday-Sunday), with work beginning at 9:00 am Friday morning.  This will be a major repair, so there will be a full road closure at that location for at least 3 days.  Public notices, warnings and detour signs will be going up this week. During construction, traffic will be diverted down Faithful and Millar to 71st Street.  This work was originally scheduled to be done in 2011, but the project was delayed.

The City of Saskatoon cannot repair railway crossings on our own, as they are the property of the railway.  We must negotiate with them, and coordinate a time for them to do the work.

Please avoid this area during the construction period, especially during rush hour on Friday.  When possible, plan a different route.  Traffic on the north end will be quite ugly next weekend, but it will be nice to have that railway crossing redone.

We are still negotiating with CN to finish the new crossing on Marquis Drive, in the Marquis Industrial area.  The new roads are done and paved… we are just waiting for the crossing to be installed so we can open up the road.

There is a not for profit seminar currently running  called

This seminar is offered by people from all walks of life at various times throughout the year. The seminar is run out of Birth Rhythms, a Pregnancy and Parenting Centre. Topics of discussion can be found at the website above.

The program has three Major Criteria that has to be followed, with no exceptions:

1. The class is absolutely free and no one is charged at all, and. therefore; no profits are made whatsoever.
2. No one including the presenters or guest speakers can endorse any one specific product or service that they may represent. Everything is Generic in nature.
3. A DO Not CALL Registry is provided for each registrant to sign to eliminate any solicitation by the presenters or guest speakers who may be involved in the presentation.

The benefits of volunteering with the Community Association are great and they include an invite to the fabulous evening that we attended last evening. As a thank you to the volunteers, the City of Saskatoon annually hosts a dinner and dance for all the Community Associations in the city.

At the event, we enjoyed a feast of German and Ukrainian favourites at the German Cultural Centre. It was a music filled party with the Magic Band and Flamenco dancers, complete with TONS of prizes.  The City of Saskatoon knows how to throw a party and they said it best, “Volunteers Rock!” Hope you can join us next year!

Silverwood Heights Extended Day Program Inc. operates as a non-profit, parent- controlled organization whose purpose is to provide safe and secure childcare with meaningful activities for the school community and is seeking a Child Supervisor for the 2012-2013 school year. The position requires an individual to provide responsible supervision of the children registered in the program, run the day-to-day operations of the program and supervise any assistants and student helpers that the SHED Program employs. The Child Supervisor acts as the primary contact for the SHED Program and as such, will have day to day dealings with both parents and the school community. The incumbent would be required to provide supervision every school day both prior to the start of the school day and after school dismissal, on regular and early dismissal days. Additionally, the supervisor would be required to be available for the entire day on Professional Development Days. The Child Supervisor will be required to have CPR and First Aid Training and official verification of non-criminal record (CPIC). The rate of pay will be $1750 per month ($17,500 per annum based on 10 months) and duties would commence on the first day of the 2012-2013 school year to the last day of the school year (dates to be determined).

Part-time Care Provider (casual position)

Interested in working with children ages 5 to 12? Russell Road Before and After program is looking for staff for substitute positions for 7:20 to 8:40 am and 3:20 to 6:00 pm. Monday to Friday.
