Silverwood Heights is the place to be this Saturday for the Silverwood Heights Community Association’s Fun Day in the Park. Taking place in the WJL Harvey Park South (next to Marion Graham on Lenore Dr.), the events run from 1 pm until 10 pm. The schedule is an idea-jam of suggestions from the community and it’s packed. There is something for everyone throughout the day. Free fun for children includes tethered balloon rides, inflatable bouncers, face painting, the Children’s Discovery Museum Display, puppet shows, an evening movie in the Marion Graham gym and more.
Free fun for teens includes live music, cultural dancing, a visit from a Canadian Olympian, Kelsie Hendry, a dance and more.
Adults are invited to try a 1-hour Zumba Class starting at 2 pm in the Marion Graham gym. Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program.
Starting at 4 pm the Entertainment Stage will feature the Meewasin Valley Puppet Show, Del Mundo Dance Academy (Latin & Middle Eastern Dance), Mysterious Package (Rock Band), and Sarah and Mike (Folk and Acoustic-rock). Simultaneously, the BBQ and concession will serve reasonably-priced hot dogs, hamburgers, samosas and more. Other concessions feature a variety of sweets, popcorn and cotton candy. Also, the beer gardens will have beer and coolers available (ID required). 50/50 sales will occur throughout the day.
Everyone is welcome to drop by for some or all of the great events planned. For further details and times view the fun day page.
