St. Angela rink rebuild a huge success!

Wow!  We replaced all the wood on a 30 year old hockey rink in 9 hours!  Thank you volunteers!


Volunteer Hours

Demolition: Friday 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm, 8 people.

Construction: Saturday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, averaged about 14 people/hr, peaked at 20 early afternoon.

Total volunteer hours: about 110 person-hours.

By the Numbers

600 linear feet of horizontal boards with 344 bolted connections.

640 vertical boards with over 3200 wood screws.

Close to $6,000 of materials.


Windsor Plywood, Gary Sauser – great pricing, service and free pre-cutting of lumber (thanks for over ten years of helping out the community)

Northern Blacktop, Darin Jorgensen – demolition haul away (thanks for over 14 years of looking after this rink and helping repair all the rinks in this area)

Northern Blacktop, Brandon Beierle is an employee who is also the rink caretaker for this rink – demolition with some hockey buddies and haul away (thanks, guys, for giving back)

RSP Contracting Ltd., Ryan Potie and one of his employees worked all Saturday, brought saws and tools for construction, gave away T-shirts (thanks for giving back to the school you went to and rink you played on)

City of Saskatoon - for the majority of the funding of materials
