Canada World Youth Seeking Host Families in Saskatoon

Canada World Youth is an organization that provides international development/leadership experiences for youth age 19-25 in its Youth Leaders in Action Program- that is the program that will be in Saskatoon this November. Canada World Youth (CWY) does have opportunities for high school students also. This year nine Canadians and nine Nicaraguans will work and volunteer in Saskatoon for three months. Each Canadian is paired with a Nicaraguan and they live together in host families and work together. Some of the partner organizations hosting youth volunteers are: White Buffalo Youth Lodge, STC’s the Children’s Centre, Sherbrooke Nursing Home, Saskatoon Indian and Métis Friendship Centre, Cosmo Industries, and YWCA woman’s shelter to name a few. The youth work at these organizations Monday to Wednesday from 8-5 (9-5 depending on work hours) and have group volunteer and educational activities on Thursdays and Fridays. Evening and weekends are free time for the participants to hang out with their host families and participate in Saskatoon culture and activities (family time, coffee with friends etc).

Host families are given a $720.00 stipend per month for hosting the participants (2 participants per home- 1 Canadian and 1 Nicaraguan).
