We Need Your Help!

HELP NEEDED IMMEDIATELY!

Silverwood Heights Community Association currently has one volunteer that is primarily responsible (with help) for the below three positions and we now have an immediate need to fill, ideally, two of the following three positions.

Newsletter and Graphics Co-ordinator:

Promote the Association by preparing and arranging for distribution of the Association’s newsletter.  Newsletter duties will most likely need the help of assistant volunteers. You would be able to use our existing Adobe Illustrator CS5 Newsletter template (software needed and not supplied by the Association) to save time or create your own (in a vector-based publishing program of your choice), ideally adhering to our existing brand/new logo colours etc., if possible.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assemble information for each newsletter by contacting appropriate persons.
  2. Prepare printed materials throughout the year such as printed flyers, posters / advertisement as needed on a sporadic basis.
  3. Type and arrange two printed newsletters per year (September, December) and one online newsletter (April).
  4. Arrange and ensure distribution of newsletters to the community.
  5. Provide Treasurer with information regarding costs.
  6. Prepare and submit annual budget to the Finance Committee.
  7. Prepare written year-end report of expenses for presentation to the Executive.

Commitment:  Seasonal (July deadlines for Fall Newsletter, November Deadlines for Winter Newsletter and March deadlines for Spring newsletter)

Website and Social Media Co-ordinator:

This position requires no prior HTML, Website, or programming knowledge of any kind.

Our website is run on Squarespace - an extremely easy to use web-based content management system. Please feel free to check out the video at http://www.squarespace.com to see how easy updating the SHCA website would be.

The SHCA can provide quick and easy training to the new volunteer.

Responsibilities:

  1. Publish news and events and other community-related articles to our easy to update website blog (blog posts from our website are automatically posted to Facebook).  
  2. Make sure content on web pages are up-to-date.
  3. Twitter - publish community-related news and event tweets
  4. Make any suggestions as to additional content that you would like to see on our website.

Time Commitment:  Sporadic

Communications Co-ordinator:

Role: This position assists the Association with various communications needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Assisting with the Newsletters (3 per year) including creating and coordinating content and advertisers, proofreading and editing.
  2. Assisting other co-ordinators and the Association with their communications needs.
  3. Submitting articles/posts to the Website and Social Media Publisher
  4. Work closely with and provide assistance to the Newsletter and Website Co-ordinator.
  5. Respond to requests from the public regarding advertising opportunities.
  6. Maintain advertising spreadsheet and seek out advertising for newsletters.

Time Commitment:  Moderate

Orientation and Training:

  1. Mentorship from previous communication director.
  2. Comprehension of succession plan document.
  3. Volunteer Conference provided by the City of Saskatoon Community Services Department.
  4. City of Saskatoon Community Consultant may assist with orientation.
